The 50 highest valued U.S. companies each have one cell, grouped by sector. Cell area scales with each company's latest disclosed USD post-money valuation across all recorded years. The reveal follows valuation size, not date; the total sums these 50 company valuations.

MethodologyHow to read these numbers

Source: Canonical Crunchbase company snapshot, filtered to records whose country is USA, then ranked globally by latest disclosed USD post-money valuation. This selected dataset is not a complete census of U.S. companies or valuations.
Time window: All recorded dates in the database. There is no start or end date cutoff, and company founding year does not affect inclusion.
Included: Exactly 50 companies with the highest latest disclosed USD post-money valuations across all recorded round types. Latest means the most recently announced round with a usable valuation, with the higher valuation breaking same-day ties. Selection is global, with no per-sector quota.
Excluded: Companies without a positive disclosed USD post-money valuation are omitted. Non-USD rounds and rounds with missing or invalid announcement dates are also excluded.
Grouping: Each of the 50 companies has one cell in its canonical primary sector. Only sectors represented among the top 50 appear. Sector areas sum those selected valuations; no other companies are aggregated into cells. The reveal follows valuation size rather than calendar date.
Limitations: Post-money valuations are historical round estimates, not current market values. Coverage and sector assignments may be incomplete. A sum of company valuations is not the market value or investor return of a sector.
